to unlock potential in the next generation

"STEM education is not about producing more scientists: it's about developing curious, resilient thinkers for life."
Our charity was founded in 1984 and we are proud to have bridged the gap between education and the STEM industry across the East of England for over 40 years.
STEM touches every part of our lives, from the food we eat to the medicine we take and from the cars we drive to the electronic devices we all rely upon. However, STEM industries are facing a growing skills gap as not enough young people are leaving education with the necessary skills and desire to join this prosperous sector.
STEM skills are vital to build a future-ready workforce. They power breakthroughs in healthcare, sustainable energy, communication and space exploration - driving progress, strengthening our economy and helping society by tackling the world's most complex challenges. Beyond knowledge, when children and young people interact with STEM-focused challenges and activities they nurture critical thinking, problem solving, creativity and adaptability - equipping them with the confidence and capabilities to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Why don’t more young people study STEM subjects and aspire to a STEM career?
For too many young people, the door to STEM closes well before they have a chance to consider the possibilities it offers. STEM subjects are widely seen as “too hard” and STEM careers as unattainable—especially by those who rarely see people like themselves represented in these fields. This belief is deeply discouraging and often puts up a barrier at an early age, reinforcing stereotypes and eroding confidence among underrepresented groups.
At the same time, many young people go through life and education without knowing the true breadth of possibilities within the STEM sector and may not know anyone who works in STEM to bring the topic to life for them. Limited exposure to inspirational STEM professionals, experiences and resources re can also mean that young people miss out on engaging interactionssity which could open their eyes to what is possible and spark curisoty in one of these vital subject areas. This is not a lack of ability—it is a lack of opportunity.
Our Purpose
STEMPOINT exists because we believe that a child’s potential should never be defined by their background or circumstances. Cultivating curiosity and confidence in STEM from an early age, and nurturing it throughout their school years, opens doors to opportunity, aspiration, and possibility.
When children are given the chance to explore, question, and discover, they begin to see themselves as future innovators. Our purpose is to ensure that every child, regardless of who they are or where they come from, can access these opportunities, build skills for life, and unlock their full potential.
Our Mission
To connect education and STEM industries to inspire the future of STEM careers.
Our Vision
To champion STEM opportunities and unlock career potential for young people across the East of England and beyond.

We used all resources (worksheets etc) in our science lessons this week. We love the career talk as well. This is also shared in our form classes to promote career guidance to pupils.

In a time when schools are feeling the financial strain, it's been amazing to find organisations that believe in supporting
educational initiatives through grants.
