Inspiring the next generation

Space Inspirations is an initiative to attract more young people into STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) - with a focus specifically on the space industry.

We do this by delivering workshops and talks and thanks to a team of amazing STEM Ambassadors who engage and interact with children and young people with the aim of inspiring them to consider a job in the space and STEM sector.

Why space matters

An introduction from Jo O'Reilly, the Project Lead for ESERO Space Inspirations
IMG_8734_jpg-1

"As project lead on the ESERO Space Inspiration programme, I am privileged to have met a number of  truly inspirational Ambassadors, who give up their time to share their enthusiasm and expertise for all things Space with young people.

I am an advocate for helping young people be the best they can be and this programme opens their eyes to the wonders of the world around us, and beyond, and the opportunities and career paths available to them.

What fascinates me is the breadth of roles from engineers to finance, from research to whatever a young person is interested in they can peruse it in the space sector."

We are grateful to our team of Space experts who have signed up as STEM Ambassadors to deliver space activities to students across the region.

So far this academic year, 211 incredible Space Inspiration Ambassadors have carried out activities and events for pupils across the East of England.

This includes holding space talks, building rockets and giving children the chance to star gaze!

Not only do the Space Inspiration Ambassadors support students' learning, they provide expert insight into working in the space industry and help bring their job to life for children. This is what truly inspires youngsters.

Support for teachers

We understand that you have a lot to do in preparation for the next academic year and that the Curriculum already feels full!

So we are running an online talk on Thursday 3rd July at 9.30am to highlight and share ideas for space related activities suitable for infant and primary pupils.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with other teachers.

Primary Schools

There is so much for children (and adults!) to learn about space.

We are running various talks in June to showcase some of the wonders of the cosmos.

These talks are tailored for pupils in Key Stage 1 and 2 and are led by Space STEM Ambassadors who are both passionate and knowledgeable about the topic.

Secondary Schools

Inspire your class and sign up to hear from some of our experts from the space industry talking about their incredible careers.

Students can learn about what they do day-to-day, what inspired them to start a job in space and ask them questions.

These talks give different viewpoints so there is something of interest for everyone.
